Quartz , what is it? titan, timex,omega.... ;)
Don't worry am not selling watches... Quartz an open source framework ,is a scheduling framework. You want a job to be executed at a particular time at a particular time or everyday at 1pm you want a process to execute without you being there to execute it , Quartz is your answer.
I was assigned the job to find a way to schedule jobs , searching the net I found 2 open sources Quartz and Flux. Going through each I found Quartz a little interesting and went for it. I couldn't find much about the it and hence thought I'll do my research.
Quartz can be integrated with any J2SE or J2EE applications. It provides simple but powerful mechanisms for job scheduling. Its light-weight and requires very little configuration/setup. It gives the user the option to create schedulers that fire once or at a particular time everyday. There are options to also handle setbacks in case the jobs fail to start and hence giving the user full control over the jobs.
I'll continue with Quartz in small chunks ; comments are most welcomed. if you feel am wrong do correct me ..
